Hayfoot

   Posted by: Strawfoot Tags: , , , , , ,

We’re thinking about doing a monthly video installment called the Hayfoot Sessions, playing our songs acoustically…maybe with a little back story if we’re feeling chatty…probably a two-song set per month, with the songs chosen by you…

Should we follow through with such endeavors, what songs would you like to hear?

William Elliott Whitmore. Strawfoot. What else need be said about the night?*

It’s one of those nights guaranteed to cause an ass to shake, a foot to stomp, a pair of hands to clap…

Come out for a Sunday Sermon like none other at the greatest venue on the face of the earth, Off Broadway…

*please note this event will, in all likelihood, sell out at the door. We recommend visiting Off Broadway’s website to purchase your tickets in advance. You have been warned.

It’s like DJango left his illegitimate kid with a band of bourbon-swilling gypsies on their way to play a show fer the devil himself.

Five Years ago this month, Strawfoot convened in a murky, damp basement, soon to be littered with empty beer bottles and instrument cables for the very first time and began making music. It feels like a lifetime ago. In some cases, it was two or three lifetimes ago.

When I formed this band, I had an idea, a handful of rough songs scratched out on napkins and one homemade recording I would use to court and swoon the founding members of the band. It was rough, it was raw.

But it was the catalyst.

Here’s the most original of versions of one of the first songs in the Strawfoot library. A song that, until now, lived only in emails to a potential banjo player, guitarist, drummer, fiddler, harmonica player and bassist.

the sinner’s lament (raw demo)

Here’s to another five years…

See you at the next show, sinners.

It’s going to be one helluva a beer drinking, foot stomping, hand clapping, ass shaking night as Cutthroat Shamrock blows into town and shares the stage with us at FUBAR…Iron Mountain Orphans open the night…Cover’s a mere $8…21 and up only, sorry kiddos!
